Let the children (and dogs) play.....

'Cwch yr gof’, (The Blacksmith's boat) set on artificial grass is an automatic attraction to small children. There are dressing up clothes,   telescopes,   all species of fish and a treasure trunk full of  child and family friendly outdoor games. We also have a sand /picnic table and play equipment

Child friendly plates / glasses / cutlery are available in the kitchen. The gardens are easily maintained so there is no need to worry about the children investigating for the many hidden animals behind trees and bushes. Just right for hunting down!

Your pet will find their own hamper - including shampoo,  paw wipes,  a towel, doggy bags, a doggy toilet and a first aid pet box

Two dogs are welcome but must not be left in the cottage unattended

The majority of pubs around the area allow dogs into the restaurants and bars

If you light a log fire inside there is a complete wrap around fire guard which is available. A high chair, play pen, safety guard for the bunk bed, baby bath and 2 travel cots are available. The child/pet gate across the top stairs is a fixed feature. Double gates will keep your pet (and children) absolutely safe whilst at The Forge

Two sets of gates keep everyone safe to enjoy themselves

Beach and walking adventures

Southerndown Beach (Dunraven Bay)

 Sunset over Southerndown Beach

The Heritage Coast covers a  stretch of beautiful beaches. Many, including Southerndown, are famous for the geology and as filming locations. Watch out for the white trailers on the headland and you may see the film crew of  Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, Casualty and others!  The tides provide great water sport opportunities such as surfing, paddle boarding or swimming. We recommend you check for tides and swells.

Please note: dogs are banned from 1st May to 30th September at select beaches (Southerndown, Restbay, Llantwit) however, Ogmore-by-sea allows dogs off lead all year round.

The Heritage Coastal Path, which stretches 14 miles along beautiful cliffs, vegetation and bays is perfect for dog walking, challenges or just relaxation. Just one of the opportunities to walk around the area.
